A Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) is an individual who is highly trained and skilled in newborn care. They provide expertise in all areas of care and they are able to work independently with little direction while providing prenatal and newborn education. They often work at night taking cues from the newborn to eventually work into a routine with sleeping through the night and getting on a great nap schedule being the ultimate goal as soon as it is healthy and possible for that individual newborn. Additionally they will often have extensive knowledge in taking care of multiples and premature infants.
